London, 30th September 2013 – In celebration of 2013 Chocolate Week, The Park Lane Hotel in London have partnered with Britain’s best-loved chocolate maker Thorntons to create a bespoke chocolate afternoon tea.
Served in the stunning setting of The Palm Court, The Park Lane Hotel’s renowned Art Deco lounge, the Thorntons Chocolate Week Afternoon Tea has been curated by award-winning Pastry Chef, Sarah Hartnett and Thorntons Master Chocolatier Keith Hurdman. Including an array of chocolate inspired savoury and sweet teatime treats, this special afternoon tea will also provide guests with a sneek-peek of Thorntons new luxurious ‘Indulgence’ range, which will launch early next year.
To begin the afternoon tea experience, guests will enjoy a glass of Mumm Champagne to compliment the chocolate enthused delicacies that follow. A selection of five sandwiches and savouries are then served, these include Cocoa, tamarind and thyme cured salmon on basil bread; Moroccan spiced roast sirloin beef with wild rocket and cucumber yoghurt; Salt and pepper roast corn fed chicken, cashew nut, celery and mustard mayonnaise on a mini ciabbatta; and Prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella, manzanella olives and crudo in a Panini.
Three types of homemade scones follow, chocolate, plain and roasted cocoa with chocolate chips, all served with chocolate and raspberry jam; lemon and white chocolate curd; clotted cream and seasonal fruit preserves. Finally guests will enjoy a selection of sweet treats inspired by Thorntons “Dreamy Desserts” range, including passion fruit and white chocolate mousse accompanied by macadamia nut crisps; Raspberry cheesecake bombe with malted white chocolate shortbread biscuits; and coconut mousse with milk chocolate and a lime cream centre served with crunchy coconut.
To accompany the Afternoon Tea, guests can choose from a selection of fine Jing teas, including the signature Vanilla Black Tea, a black Vietnamese tea-leaf infused with vanilla pods to compliment the chocolate whilst they relax to live music from the Palm Court’s resident harpist.
To ensure the indulgent experience doesn’t end too soon, each guest will be given a sample of Thorntons indulgence chocolates to take home along with a personalised Thorntons chocolate name tag.
The Park Lane Hotel was amongst a select handful of London hotels to be recognised recently with the prestigious Award of Excellence 2013 by The Tea Guild.
The Thorntons Chocolate Week Afternoon Tea at The Park Lane Hotel will be served from 12th October to 27th October (3pm – 6pm on weekdays and 2pm – 6pm at weekends) in The Palm Court and costs £41 per person with champagne or £33 without. Bookings must be made in advance.
